The Evolution of Fitness Training

A paradigm shift is occurring

Are You Ready?

Fitness  trainers are commonly certified by attending seminars and/or workshops, where they learn the latest in functional or core training with little understanding about pre-assessments or screening for risk factors to injury.

A survey was conducted with personal trainers through EFI Total Gym of San Diego which found 100% of them were working with clients experiencing “chronic pain.” The staggering conclusion: Personal trainers require both the in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience to identify the red flags or warning signs associated with musculoskeletal challenges.

The health and fitness industry are both moving into a new era of education and hands-on training, embracing an integrated approach with new emphasis on how the body interrelates while in motion, focusing on movement as well as muscles and the powerful influence that emotions, sleep, nutrition and have on the body

Current statistics show a steady increase in health challenges such as diabetes, obesity, cancer and heart disease. However, the staggering statistics are in the orthopedic challenges millions of people encounter at every age.

Orthopedic challenges include:

  • Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fractures
  • Joint Deterioration
  • Muscle Wasting
  • Connective Tissue Disorder
  • Poor Posture
  • Sprains, Strains
  • Repetitive Stress Injuries

These challenges create restriction in fundamental movement patterns establishing hidden orthopedic issues as the body begins to compensate creating greater deficits in the postural muscles, resulting in more injuries. The absence of pre-assessments and postural evaluations, along with inadequate exercise program design, all contribute to the orthopedic challenge.  Today evidence reveals that every day people are engaging in some sort of activity or fitness exercise and are putting fitness on top of dysfunction.
